Life story
Amitis was the only child of her family—a joyful, vibrant young woman, full of dreams and a deep love for life. She loved music and basketball and carried within her the energy and hopes of a future still waiting to be lived.
Incident summary
According to her family's account, Amitis was shot twice on 19 Dey. For an entire week, her family searched for her until she was finally identified at Behesht-e Sakineh in Karaj. Her mother says she was not even allowed to kiss her only child goodbye for the last time. The family says they were initially asked for money to receive her body. When they could not pay, they were allegedly forced and threatened into accepting conditions of silence, including changes to the recorded date and month of her death, before Amitis's body was handed over. According to the family, no one was allowed to attend her burial. Their only child was buried quickly, without allowing her loved ones a proper farewell. The family says many other victims at Behesht-e Sakineh, with only a few exceptions, were buried under similarly restrictive conditions.
