Incident summary

On the evening of January 8, 2026, after closing his shop, Hamed Shafiei went to the center of Chalus. According to his family, while attempting to rescue someone in front of the Chalus police station, he was struck by live ammunition and wounded in the abdomen. He was transferred to Chalus Hospital but died from the severity of his injuries. His body was returned to his family on January 9 and was buried the same day in his ancestral village of Kouchakam, in Masal County.
