Mehdi Ostadzadeh

Mehdi was a kind and hardworking man. He had been married for five years, but he and his wife had not yet had children. He often said, "I want to have children, but first we need a better society to raise them in." Perhaps that hope for a better future for the next generation was one of the reasons he went out that night.

Life story

Mehdi was a kind and hardworking man. He had been married for five years, but he and his wife had not yet had children. He often said, "I want to have children, but first we need a better society to raise them in." Perhaps that hope for a better future for the next generation was one of the reasons he went out that night.

Incident summary

At around 10:00 p.m., he was struck in the head by a live bullet and died on the main street of Fariman. For two days, his brothers searched for his body, but no official would give them any information. Because Fariman is a small town, they eventually found the driver of the vehicle that had transported the bodies and learned that he had been taken to Behesht-e Reza Cemetery in Mashhad. Several years earlier, Mehdi's mother had already lost another young son to COVID-19. This second loss left her devastated.
