Incident summary
It was Friday evening when he went out. I became worried and went looking for him. Mobile phone service had been cut off. I finally found him, and he had just come out of the barbershop with a fresh haircut. I told him, "They're going to start shooting tonight. They've been given orders to open fire." At first, he said, "I won't go. It's too dangerous tonight." I told him, "Your mother will die of grief, and your father will have a heart attack if anything happens to you." He was somewhat convinced. Suddenly, the street became crowded. It was around 10 p.m. He walked to the side of the street just to see what was happening. He stood on the curb to look toward the end of the street when a live bullet struck him in the groin. The bullet entered from the front and exited through the back. When I got him to the hospital, they told me that his main artery had been severed. He was bleeding terribly. The hospital was full of security forces who prevented the medical staff from treating Morteza's wound. At 1:00 a.m., he fell into a coma, and at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, the 20th of Dey, he later died from his injuries.
