mahmoud-lak

Mahmoud was born on 16 Shahrivar 1366 in Dorud, Lorestan. He was a kind-hearted and good-natured man who was loved both at home and in his workplace. He was the family's breadwinner and loved both his family and his profession. He was the uncle his nieces and nephews adored. Everywhere they went, they looked for Uncle Mahmoud so they could laugh, play, and spend happy moments with him. He was also a beloved nephew and a caring cousin, dearly loved by all of us. We all dreamed of seeing Mahmoud's wedding. He had so many hopes and dreams for the future, but the Islamic Republic destroyed all of our lives with a single live bullet. The only thing Mahmoud carried with him from this life was the names of his nieces and nephews. He had the names of two of them tattooed on his arms.

Incident summary

On the night of 19 Dey 1404, Mahmoud was killed at Simin Junction in Isfahan. He was shot in the side with a live bullet that exited through his throat. The shot was fired from such close range that it caused this devastating injury. For an entire week, we had no idea whether he was alive, which prison he might have been in, or what had happened to him. We went everywhere we could, pleading and crying, speaking with every official and every person who might have known something, but no one gave us any information. Finally, on Thursday, we found him at Bagh-e Rezvan Cemetery. They told us that they would bury him themselves and that we should return three days later, when they would tell us the section and the grave where he had been buried. After desperate pleading and tears, we were finally allowed to take Mahmoud to Fooladshahr. We were threatened that only fifteen people would be allowed to attend the funeral and that no young people were permitted to be present. At first, only the older members of the family went. But when they saw that many people had gathered there, they called us, and we went as well. Mahmoud was laid to rest in the most lonely, heartbreaking, and مظلومانه circumstances imaginable.

Memorial narrative

My dearest Mahmoud, You were precious to every one of us. Every moment of our lives is filled with thoughts of you. Every second without you feels like an arrow piercing our hearts. You taught us the meaning of wholehearted laughter—the kind that comes from the depths of the soul. Through you, we came to know loyalty, honor, true chivalry, and the spirit of a wrestler. Life with you, every moment by your side, was so beautiful, so genuine, and so full of joy that we know we will never experience anything like it with anyone else. Perhaps life will one day return to its ordinary course, but with every smile we share and every breath we take, a part of our hearts will always ache because you are no longer with us.
