Incident summary

On Wednesday, the 17th of Dey, at 9:00 p.m., he left home and told his mother and sister, "I'll be back by midnight." He had gone with his friends to a restaurant near where the protests were taking place. When the situation became chaotic, his partner called him and ended up in the middle of the crowd. Milad told his friends, "I'm going to bring my partner out. I'm afraid something will happen to them." At around 10:00 p.m., he reached the crowd. He was talking to his partner on the phone, trying to find them because they had been affected by tear gas and he could not locate them. While still on the phone, Milad was shot at close range—approximately 7 to 8 meters away—with a direct shot from a personal handgun. The incident occurred directly in front of the Basij base in Khoshkebijar. The bullet struck the corner of his eye, exited through his ear, and caused fatal injuries to his brain. Milad was killed at 10:12 p.m. on the 17th of Dey in Khoshkebijar, Gilan. His friends took him to the old clinic next to the same Basij base, and his family rushed there, only to be confronted with his lifeless body. Basij and security forces attempted to take Milad's body, but his family courageously placed him in their own car. Because he was tall and heavily built, there was not enough room in the vehicle, and his body had to lie on the floor. Fearing that his body would be taken away, his sister lay across her brother's blood-covered body, becoming drenched in his blood to protect him. That same night, at 3:00 a.m., Milad was laid to rest forever in the cemetery of his hometown, the rural district of Nowshahr. His memory remains forever engraved in the hearts of the people.
