Mojtaba Choghini

He was a cheerful, energetic, and kind-hearted young man. He started working at the age of eleven, and after years of hard work, he was finally able to buy the truck he had always dreamed of—an FH500. It was in that very truck that he later lost his life. His passing left not only his family but an entire extended family in mourning. Even today, no one has truly been able to believe that he is gone.

Life story

He was a cheerful, energetic, and kind-hearted young man. He started working at the age of eleven, and after years of hard work, he was finally able to buy the truck he had always dreamed of—an FH500. It was in that very truck that he later lost his life. His passing left not only his family but an entire extended family in mourning. Even today, no one has truly been able to believe that he is gone.

Incident summary

On 19 Dey 1404, Mojtaba was driving a heavy truck carrying cargo toward Mashhad together with his brother. On the Nishapur bypass, his brother passed through, but Mojtaba's truck was stopped. After he showed his support for the people by sounding his horn, Special Unit forces blocked his way. They looked directly into his eyes and deliberately shot him in the heart from the front, through the windshield of his truck. Mojtaba later died in the very truck he loved so much—a truck that had been cleared through customs only a few months earlier. His brother, who had driven ahead, waited for him, but Mojtaba never arrived. He called him over and over again, but the calls would not go through because the phone networks had been shut down. From that night until the following morning, he searched for his brother throughout an unfamiliar city. At around 10 a.m. the next day, he finally found him at the hospital. The nurses and everyone there were deeply moved by the grief of a brother searching for his missing brother in a strange city, and many of them were in tears. Even today, if you go to Nishapur and ask about the truck driver from Qazvin who was shot there, people still remember him. On 20 Dey 1404, one day later, Mojtaba was brought back to his hometown, where he was laid to rest.

Memorial narrative

The son of Iran's truck drivers, we still cannot believe that you are gone.
